When I think of Lent, my first inclination is to think of the practical: What shall I give up for Lent? What practice shall I take on? Perhaps we do this because we think of Jesus' fasting in the desert for forty days and believe that we should do something similar (but maybe not as extreme).

The following is a reflection from Agape House employee and UIC student, Angelica Bevelle.
As any follower of the Agape House website or Facebook page would know, I write many blogs already for this group, so writing one about the UN trip we went on should have been easy….however, I’m having trouble doing so. I thought finding the words to describe this amazing experience would come easily to me, but they just aren’t. Words can’t really describe the experiences I had with a few friends and many complete strangers.

Today, on the third day of classes, I sit in a surprisingly crowded Commuter Student Resource Center trying to think of the best thing to tell all of you new students. Whether you are freshman, fresh out of high school and new to the college world, or transfer students, who have already been through this system called college life, you technically are new here. The UIC environment is different from anything you have experienced, or will ever experience in your life. I sincerely hope you enjoy your time here, and make the most of it.
